For FW12 Carolina Herrera is focused on saturated color and a juxtaposition of weights and textiles. The collection exudes femininity and is tailored for the beautiful, seductive and modern woman of today. Drawing on the reflections of an artist’s studio with attention to bold color and rich texture, FW12 offers an exemplary range from day dresses to separates to evening gowns. Jackets are cropped this season, shown with fitted pencil skirts, thus further elongating the leg. Silhouettes are trim and body conscious with an accentuation on natural curvature and movement.

Orlando Pita at Orlo Salon for Moroccanoil created uniquely graphic, full volumed looks for the Carolina Herrera show this season. We wanted to create something dramatic and unexpected,” said Orlando, “so we went big. The style is young and very cool. It looks great with Carolina’s clothes, and incorporates one of the trends of the season, the headband.

”The look highlights a voluminous texture that is achieved by back combing hair to new heights, then smoothed at the hairline, and held in place by either a black grosgrain ribbon or a thin elastic headband. Variations include long, free flowing hair as well styles with an elegant bow tied simply at the end of hair’s length. For several models with finer hair, Orlando added hair extensions to create longer hair.

“The product essential to create this look was new Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray, which I used to ensure texture, lift and hold. It built the foundation inside the style as well as maintained its shape. So I didn’t need to use a lot of different products this time. For a few models that needed extra protection against the heat of the hairdryer, I used Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream.

“Since Moroccanoil’s hairspray has nourishing properties, the backcombing is not damaging to the hair, and it’s easy to brush out afterwards. It has a great strong hold yet still looks natural. The hairspray works really well. I always like products that multi-task, not just to hold a style, but also to work if I style or backcomb and ensure volume stays in. “To create the headband you can find a huge spool of elastic and make them yourself. It’s simple and all you need to do is tie a knot in the back. Or you can use a ribbon as a headband, placed or tied in an interesting way.”
